MATERIALS NEEDED:

PAINTING SUPPLIES FOR ALL PAINTING CLASSES

Pigments:

  • Yellows: Cadmium Lemon, Cadmium Yellow Med., Cadmium Orange, Yellow Ochre.
  • Reds: Cadmium Red, Permanent Rose, Permanent Magenta.
  • Blues: Intense Blue, Cobalt, Cerulean, Ultramarine.
  • Greens: Permanent Green, Viridian.
  • Earths: Burnt Sienna, Indian Red.
  • Blacks: Ivory, Payne's Gray.
  • White: Titanium White.

Gouache Pigments (suggested for all painting classes):

  • Cadmium Yellow Light. 
  • Permanent Rose.
  • Cadmium Red.
  • Ultramarine Blue.
  • Intense Blue .

Brushes:

  • Bristle.
  • Flat- #6, #8, #10 (2 each.)
  • Nylon (soft)- #6, # 8 ( 2 each.)
  • Bristle House Painting- 2 and 3 inches.

Surface options:

  • Canvas- primed or unprimed.
  • Paper- hot press watercolor, 300 lb.
  • Masonite- ¼ inch.

Medium:

  • Odorless turps, Stand oil.

Equipment:

  • Field painting easel.
  • Palette.
  • Palette knife.
  • Painting Board-masonite or homosote.
  • Acrylic gesso.
  • Paper towels or rags.
  • Small sketchbook.
  • Charcoal and graphite pencils.
  • Sunscreen and repellent (warm weather).

  • #12 round, sable, synthetic or blend.
  • #9 round, sable, synthetic or blend.
  • #5 round, sable, synthetic or blend.
  • 1inch or larger, soft wash brush (squirrel mop).
  • * 1 ½ inch flat wash.

Paint: Winsor Newton Artist or student series or equivalent.

Recommended: 

  • Windsor Blue.
  • Cerulean Blue.
  • Ultramarine Blue.
  • Cobalt Blue.
  • Cadmium Red.
  • Permanent Rose.

  • 140 lb, watercolor paper, 22 x 30 inches, hot pressed, cold pressed, rough surfaces (Arches or Saunders.)*
  •  200 lb, cold pressed, 22 x 30 inches (Arches, Saunders, Fabriano.) 
  • 140 lb, 16 x 20 inches cold pressed watercolor block (Arches.)

  • Watercolor box & large FLAT palette. 
  • Water containers. 
  • Shampoo squeeze bottle. 
  • Pencils. 
  • White eraser. 
  • Soft paper towels. 
  • Drawing board. 
  • Single edge razor. 
  • Masking tape. 
  • Watercolor sketchbook (140 lb. cold pressed), approx. 7 x 10 inches.
