Summer 2015 Pre-College Academy Courses

All classes are open to high school students, freshmen through seniors, with beginning- to advanced-level art training who want to further explore or expand their technical skills and artistic ability. No previous experience required.

3D MODELING AND DIGITAL SCULPTING

Learn to make digital creatures and characters for games or film using Zbrush.
Dates: July 6 – July 10, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

ANIMATION

Learn to animate using the Adobe creative cloud, especially Photoshop software program. Instruction will emphasize artistic creativity, timing, motion and combining sound or music.

SCULPTURE

Observed objects are re-purposed in the third dimension, constructing an armature and establishing true form in clay. Instructor provides anatomical, structural and proportional strategies in building the sculpture.

DRAWING

Students will focus on observation to accurately map out the object/objects in front of them. Students will learn tactics to measure, plot and interpret what they see.

PAINTING

Using direct and indirect painting methods, students will observe form in terms of light and color. The instructor will demonstrate techniques in layering paint and use of mediums.

ILLUSTRATION FOR COMICS AND CARTOONS

Covering comic book design from start to finish, this class will provide students with the skills to make their own comics. Topics include page layout, penciling, inking, lettering, and comic book storytelling. Students will develop a written and illustrated comic of their own by the end of the course.
