About the Artist

Michael DiGiorgio is a nationally recognized nature artist who works full-time as a painter and illustrator. He was awarded the first ever Endowment Award from the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia for recognition of his bird illustration work. His drawings and paintings have appeared in a variety of nature books and journals, including the Audubon Field Guide to Birds/ Eastern and Western region, Bird Watcher’s Digest, Breeding Bird Atlas of CT, Audubon Magazine, and Audubon Nature Yearbook.

From 2007 to 2012, Mike was contracted by Houghton Mifflin to completely revise the artwork for the new edition of the Peterson Field Guide to the Birds. From 1993 – 2000, Mike taught college-level art courses on The Art of Botanical Drawing, The Art of Field Sketching, and The Art of Painting and Drawing Wildlife in the Graduate Liberal Studies Program at Wesleyan University.
