Still Life Watercolors with Jeanne Potter

Explore the poetic beauty of watercolor still life.  Learn to create strong watercolor paintings of still life subjects and develop a painting aesthetic with an emphasis on composition, effective shadows and light and how they relate to color.  The course will begin with a painting in black and white to instill a strong sense of value and composition before moving on to color.  The fundamentals of color mixing, ratio of pigment to water and glazing techniques will be covered as well as in-class demonstrations.  Students will be encouraged to develop a personal style and approach to watercolor painting as it applies to still life.
