WATERCOLOR: The Method of COLOR-workshop with David Dewey

Plein Air Watercolor Painting at the Norman Bird Sanctuary, Newport, Rhode Island

The workshop includes four intensive days of painting watercolors from observation on location and in the studio with master artist David Dewey. The workshop begins each morning with a demonstration lecture by Mr. Dewey, which includes fundamental watercolor principles, on-location and studio watercolor painting methods, and Color, the primary focus of all of David Dewey’s teaching. Each day ends with a group discussion on each student’s watercolors.

$800 Includes workshop registration and daily continental breakfast and box lunch as well as exclusive evening events and lectures (see below for details).


There is limited housing available at The Paradise Farmhouse at the Norman Bird Sanctuary in Newport. Shared Occupancy (private bedroom & bathroom, with shared common space) is available at a cost of $500/for four nights Monday through Thursday, May 15- 19, 2017.

Attendees staying at The Paradise Farmhouse should plan to arrive on Monday, May 15 at 3pm for check in. Guests will need to check-out of their rooms by 11am on Friday, May 19.

Other housing is available at local Inns and Hotels in the greater Newport area.
