OPEN DRAWING
Open Figure Drawing Sessions will be held on Wednesdays, Feb 22- May 9, (no class on Mar 14 & Apr 4) from 4:15 to 5:45pm. Come and draw from a unclothed model with other artists in the community. These sessions are monitored by a current Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts student but no direct instruction is provided. Easels are available but you will need to bring your own materials. Registration is required. Call the Office of Continuing Education to sign up for the sessions, then come when you choose
and pay the monitor the $5 fee at the door.
This semester the College has added workshops for students ages 15 and up who want to learn technical skills within an intensive weekend course.
CEECCH
INTENSIVE SCULPTURE ECORCHE
Instructor: Jeremy Davis
Sat - Sun, May 5 - 6, 2012, 10am - 5pm, $195
This workshop shows students the artistic anatomy of the human figure through thoughtful construction of an ecorche (fillet figure) sculpture. During the first half of the workshop students study and construct the skeletal system. The second half focuses on the study and construction of the muscular system. This intensive course will focus on the anatomy of the Torso only.
The Continuing Education program at Lyme Academy College includes our foundation non-credit courses which prepare students to take our intermediate to advanced non-credit courses in digital illustration, drawing, painting, and sculpture.

DYNAMIC FIGURE SCULPTURE

Thursdays, Apr 12 - May 10, 2012, 6pm - 9pm, $250
This course is open to all levels in approaching the human form by way of 3- dimensional modeling. Working from the live model, students will sculpt a 24” standing figure. With the help of individual instruction, teaching demonstrations, and illustrations, students will acquire the following: anatomical clarity, accurate proportions, form relationships in rhythm symmetry, characteristics of the specific model type, etc. Individual instruction will be provided that addresses each student’s creative needs.

FIGURE DRAWING

Saturdays, Apr 14 - May 12, 10am - 1pm, $250
The human form is central to most well known classical art. In the spirit of artists from the Renaissance through the 19th century, students will study the figure through a series of poses, paying careful attention to composition, proportion, line quality, modeling of form, and basic anatomical landmarks. Using mediums from graphite to charcoal, students will learn to relate the human body to basic geometric forms, in order to clearly visualize position and proportion. We will start with quicker poses and end with longer poses allowing for more highly finished drawings.

FIGURE PAINTING

Saturdays, Apr 14 - May 12, 1:30pm - 4:30pm, $250
Painting the human form can be one of the most inspiring subjects in all realist art. Through a series of paintings students will study effective ways to paint the figure from life, paying careful attention to compositional design, color, paint application, and basic anatomical landmarks. Strong emphasis will be placed on creating a sense of light in the painting through the use of value, color, and use of thick and thin paint. We will learn to create harmonious color by mixing with a smaller range colors, emphasizing the interaction of color and value throughout the painting.
Our intermediate/advanced courses are open to students ages 15 and up who can demonstrate having basic experience or taken courses in the discipline.

PAINTING THE HUMAN FORM IN SPACE
Instructor: Hollis Dunlap
Mondays, April 9 - May 7, 2012, 6pm - 9pm, $250
This class focuses on the integration of the figure with its surroundings in order to achieve at sense of light, atmosphere and mood in the painting. While the primary focus will be on accurate depiction of the figure, using proportions, positions, and anatomical landmarks, emphasis will also be given to negative space, controlled use of color, and dynamic application of thick and thin paint. Each night we will paint a different 3 hour study, emphasizing broad, spontaneous brushwork over details.

WATERCOLOR II

Wednesdays, Apr 11 - May 9, 2012, 6pm - 9pm, $250
This class elaborates on the principles presented in the basic watercolor course. Along with a continuing focus on pictorial structure, the qualities of the specific pigments themselves are explored through experimentation of particular color schemes. There will also be a strong focus on the use of glazing techniques to achieve maximum optical effects.

INTRODUCTION TO WEB DESIGN, DREAMWEAVER & INDESIGN

This course is a comprehensive introduction to Adobe Dreamweaver and InDesign. File management, application of design elements and principles in html and PDF documents are some of the main topics outlined in the course.

PRINTMAKING STUDIO

This course offers customized technical demonstrations in relief, intaglio, lithography and monotype methods. The core of the class will be independent printing time.Individual and class critiques are scheduled weekly. The opportunity to share with experienced printmakers in a common studio is the goal. If taken in the mornings, the studio in the afternoon will remain open for continue
