The 2011 Student Holiday Art Sale opens with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, in the Sill House Gallery at the College. The public is invited to attend the reception, which will also include music and refreshments.
The show will comprise a selection of original works in a variety of media by emerging artists. The exceptional quality of the artwork reflects the extremely high quality of teaching at the College by faculty who, in addition to their roles in the studio or classroom, are all working artists. Both students and faculty at the College have been widely recognized for their accomplishments.
A special feature at the Opening Reception this year is the opportunity for guests to have their caricature drawn by a student for a $10 donation, which will be divided equally between the student artist and the Adopt-a-Family program that the College is supporting, which is sponsored by Old Lyme Social Services.
Always a popular exhibition, this show provides a perfect opportunity to do some holiday shopping. All the artwork is attractively priced and sold on a cash and carry basis. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the show benefit the students directly.
The show runs through Sunday, Dec.18, and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
