The College is offering a wide range of Adult Continuing Education classes and Pre-College programs for high school students in early 2011. These competitively-priced classes provide the opportunity to work in a studio setting with skilled artists.
Both programs open during the week commencing Monday, Feb. 14, 2011 and include intensive five- or 10-week classes held either on weekday evenings or during the day on Saturdays. The classes run through May 7, 2011 with the second session of five-week classess beginning in the week commencing April 4, 2011.
A number of scholarships are available to Connecticut middle and high school art teachers on a “first come, first served” basis. These scholarships include registration and tuition fees, and an art supplies stipend. Additional scholarships are also available to both Adult Continuing Education and Pre-College students based primarily on financial need and these vary from partially- to fully-paid tuition. For more information about scholarships, contact Renee Beyor at 860-434-3571 ext. 110 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Some of the many reasons that students return each year to take Adult Continuing Education classes are to work with established artists in the regional community, to build portfolios for entrance into credit-carrying college courses, and to advance their skills in various media and techniques. Adult Continuing Education classes are scheduled to accommodate most working adults and, in addition, these classes are designed to augment the strengths of core degree programs with special interest topics.
Pre-College programs are designed for students aged 15 to 18 who wish to explore and expand their artistic abilities. This program not only offers an opportunity for portfolio development but also aims to foster creativity, build artistic skill, and mentor personal vision in young artists.
