Faculty Member Shira Avidor Wins Pollock-Krasner Grant

Shira Avidor, Interim Chair and Assistant Professor of Painting, has been chosen to receive a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant. The Pollock-Krasner Foundation’s mission is to aid, internationally, those individuals who have worked as artists over a significant period of time. The grant is given to advance Avidor’s artistic endeavors in the coming year. An example of her work is shown on the right, in a painting titled Skull and its Reflection.

Avidor earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem. After graduation she studied with the painter Israel Hershberg at the Jerusalem Studio School. Following that, Avidor studied for her Master’s of Fine Arts at Boston University, College of Fine Arts on the Dean’s Scholarship. She exhibits her paintings in Boston, New York, and Tel Aviv, and resides with her family in West Hartford, CT.
