Housing Information Disclaimer

The following information has been prepared to ensure that students seeking the Lyme Academy College’s assistance in finding housing are aware of key points.  Your signature will indicate that you have read this and understand it.  Parents, spouses, or anyone assisting the student are also asked to read and sign this paper.

·        There are currently no on-campus residences.  All housing is off-campus.  The College maintains a list of various types of opportunities (rooms in family homes, apartments over the garage, beach houses, etc.) that come to our attention.   It is important to know that these listings are not researched by the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts.  Inclusion in this list does not constitute a recommendation or endorsement by Lyme Academy College. We do not investigate whether a property is built to current fire and safety codes.  It is incumbent upon the student and his/her family to research the listing that they decide to take to ensure that it meets their individual needs.  We encourage all students to research a potential housing opportunity the same way as if they had found it in a local newspaper.

·         The Lyme Academy does not do background checks on its students.  A roommate list is circulated by those students who agree or request to have their directory information shared for the purpose of meeting other students.   Students who agree to enter into a house-sharing situation are encouraged to ask for references.

·         The Lyme Academy does not have any jurisdiction over conflicts that may arise in the rental properties off-campus.  Although students are encouraged to discuss any roommate conflicts with the Director of Student Services, we can not take action against another student for events that take place off-campus.

·         The student’s Directory Information will be released to other students to facilitate roommates and friendships, during both the housing search process and during the year.  Directory Information may include name, phone number, email and physical address, and locker number.  Students that do not want their information disclosed should submit a letter in writing prior to the ADD/DROP date of the Fall semester, to the Director of Student Services to opt out.  (Two weeks into the semester)

·         In accordance with state and federal laws, we can not disclose information regarding physical or learning disabilities or mental health issues that we may be aware of to potential roommates.

I have read and understand the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts Housing Information.
