Portfolio Submission:
Original work, slides, and/or electronic submissions will be considered
for admissions. Portfolios of original artwork should be neat, reflecting
the students concern for the work. It is not necessary to mount, mat,
or frame your work for presentation. The College is most interested in
the work itself.
Slide portfolios should be sent in flat plastic slide sheets; this is the
safest and easiest way. Carefully identify each slide with your name, title
of work, size, medium, and year the piece was completed. Please use an
arrow to indicate which direction is up and accompany the slides with an
inventory sheet. Slides for admissions will be returned only if we are
provided with a return-postage-paid mailer.

Electronic submissions should be emailed to admissions@lymeacademy.edu or
sent to our office on disk. Please include an inventory of images
with your name, email address, title of work, size, medium, and date
of completion in your email or on your disk. We reserve the right
to ask for additional work.
Portfolio and Interview Purpose:
The portfolio review of at least fifteen pieces and personal interview
provide a way of evaluating an applicant’s work and help determine potential
for success at the Lyme Academy College. A successful portfolio will include mostly
drawing from direct observation; figure drawing, portrait, landscape
and still life. Additional work may be included and should reflect the
students’ abilities, what they like to do, and what they feel strongly
about. The presence of commitment and evidence of motivation to pursue
a traditional course of training in drawing and painting or sculpture
should be clear. Sketchbooks are helpful in understanding student interests
and can be a critical factor in admissions.
National Portfolio Day Schedule:
Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts Admissions Representatives
will reviewing portfolios at several NPDA events across the country.
