Enrich your experience!
Lyme Academy College is pleased to provide the opportunity for young artists to develop their skills and portfolios in an
art college studio environment. Students who are considering studying art for their college career, or are interested in learning more about the fine arts of painting, drawing and sculpture, are welcome to take part in our program. The classes offered are challenging to both new and returning students.
Portfolio reviews are also available to students
from their instructors or an admissions representative.
Evening and Saturday Fundamentals of Art courses
are available during the FALL and SPRING semesters. These
non-credit courses are three-hours long, meeting once a week for ten
weeks. Other non-credit classes in
Life Drawing (figure) and
Watercolor Painting can supplement a student's portfolio.
These Fundamentals of Arts courses and other
workshops are also available in the SUMMER.

Fundamentals of Art
Get back to basics at the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts with
our Fundamentals of Art classes. Covering the main disciplines
of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture, that emulate the curriculum at
our art college, these courses are open to
pre-college students and adults.
The
Fundamentals of Art Program provides courses based on our Foundation (Freshman) Year program. Classes run for 10 weeks and introduce students to the skills and techniques necessary for creating real-life 3-D forms on paper,
canvas, and in clay with accuracy and efficiency.
In a studio setting, students have the advantage of working with our
artist/instructors who will provide guidance, encouragement and
inside knowledge of a range of art techniques. By taking these
fundamentals courses students will
- learn the basic fine art
techniques that have shaped the work of the great masters.
- learn new skills and build on
those they already have.
- create an impressive portfolio
or supplement an existing portfolio with new observation-based
work for entrance into more advanced art courses at Lyme Academy
College and other schools.
Upon completion of these courses, students will have developed the confidence, competence, and skills necessary to work independently, or continue their studies
at our Art College, pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts or a 3-year
Certificate.
