The purpose of Interlibrary Loan is to provide materials that can not be obtained through the Krieble Library. Interlibrary loan is a service provided to a specific class of library patrons (as defined by each individual library), in which library material (book), or a copy of material (periodical) , is often, but not always, made available by one library to another upon request.
WHAT CAN BE RECEIVED THROUGH ILL?Any currently enrolled student in GOOD standing, or current faculty or staff member at the LymeAcademy College of Fine Arts.
Books and copies of articles.
HOW LONG DOES THE PROCESS TAKE?
Filling an ILL request can take between, on average, 2-6 weeks. There is NO guarantee that your request (s) will be met by other libraries. If you are looking for material for next week’s class or for a project due in 4 weeks, ILL may not be the best way to meet your needs. Instead, you may want to visit a local library that has the material you need (Please see library staff with questions). However, if you can plan ahead, ILL may work for you!
First, check to see if we own the item of interest. If you need assistance, please see a staff person. Second, if we do not own the material, or, it is checked out to someone else for a long period of time, then, you may fill out an ILL request form. There are two forms, one for books and another for copies of articles, each are available here in PDF format or at the library service desk.
